Tai Chi in the movie Easy Rider! "The movie Easy Rider is an American Classic that was made in 1969. It was written by, and stars, Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper. The movie also features Jack Nicholson."
And about the guy that staged the Tai Chi in the movie: "Robert Walker Jr. learned Tai Chi Chuan from Marshall Ho, as did other actors in Hollywood. Marshall Ho had also been associated with Hollywood notables such as John Saxon, Grace Boyd, Jennifer Jones, Nick Nolte, Erin Gray, and Craig T. Nelson." Later we saw Nick Nolte doTai Chi in "Down and out in Beverly Hills"

She tells The Daily Telegraph newspaper, "I practise Tai Chi to calm my own (nerves)... I'm teaching them all (crew) as it pulls the company together."
However, Turner admits her co-star, Star Wars actor Ian McDiarmid, is not participating in her Tai Chi sessions."

Here is the newpaper article about it. http://www.express.co.uk/news/showbiz/484560/Kathleen-Turner-teaching-Tai-Chi-during-West-End-show

This a bit over the top, but somehow fun to watch... Wink Not Wu Tang Clan quality rap.
Flashy Tai Chi, Ming Jin it's called, meaning not real but shinny stuff, glittery...
Anyway, this is the "Tai Chi in entertainment" post and it's somehow entertaining.
"STONE TEMPLE TAO: Taiji Quan (TAI CHI), Qi Gong, Kung Fu and... RAP MUSIC by "Stone Temple Crew"!"

"American movie star Robert De Niro has been nominated dozens of times for major film awards and won 21 of them including two Oscars and one Golden Globe Award in addition to 14 other special awards. He is versatile but he is best known as a tough guy. It is humorous when Director Nancy Meyers wanted this “raging bull” to play Tai Chi (Taiji) in the comedy The Intern.
Master Tiffany Chen (left) teaches Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway Tai Chi. Jules Ostin, played by Anne Hathaway, the founder and CEO of a fashion ecommerce startup, agrees to a community outreach program that a retired senior Ben Whittaker, played by Robert De Niro, will intern at her firm. Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute the film in the U.S., Canada, and internationally and has scheduled to release it on Sept. 25, 2015."

"Contrary to her showbiz persona, Bette Midler admitted that she is actually very shy. She began studying Tai Chi a few years ago. According to her husband, Martin von Haselberg, and Grandmaster Ren, she can perform Chen Style Tai Chi 19 Form really well. However, she did not want to be photographed doing Tai Chi due to her modesty. We were grateful to finally see her practice a few moves, even though it was for just a short period of time.
During the interview with Oprah, Bette stated that her best decision in life is marrying Martin, who was a contemporary performance artist known for the creation of Kipper Kids. Martin is also a professional photographer and artist. His photograph of Ren’s hook hand became a symbol of Tai Chi representing “relaxed yet ready”. Martin is a long-time martial art enthusiast. He had studied Choy Lay Fut before and started his Tai Chi journey in 2002 with Ren Guangyi. Martin takes two private lessons each week and practices two hours each day. In June, he attended the 4th Tiger Claw Kung Fu Magazine Champions tournament held in San Jose, CA and won the title of the moving-step Push Hands as well as a gold medal in a hand form competition."

PostPosted: Sat Sep 26, 2015 11:22 pm    Post subject: Jet Li and Jack Ma are partners in promoting Tai Chi Reply with quote

"Actually, last August I interviewed Kung Fu movie superstar Jet Li in Washington DC. Li mentioned that he and Jack Ma are partners and they plan to promote Tai Chi worldwide. On Sept 10, Jet Li and Jack Ma become co-founders of Taiji Zen, a China-based international company, whose mission is to promote a healthy lifestyle globally. In early Dec, I reported that Jet Li representing Taiji Zen signed a contract with Chinese Wushu Association to promote Tai Chi worldwide. In April, Taiji Zen reached an agreement with Talent Magazine, focusing on business leadership, and the latter will publish Taiji Zen Magazine.

Jack does not preach things that he does not believe himself. He is learning Tai Chi himself and when he travels, he brings a personal trainer with him. With his act in promoting Tai Chi, Jack Ma will find out that he will be in a good company with millions of Tai Chi practitioners in the world."

See the movie by Ang Lee, very good story and some nice Kungfu.
"Master Chu, a retired Chinese Tai-Chi master, moves to Westchester, New York to live with his son Alex, his American daughter-in-law Martha, and their son Jeremy. However, Martha's second novel is suffering from severe writers' block brought on by Chu's presence in the house. Alex must struggle to keep his family together as he battles an inner conflict between cultural tradition and his modern American lifestlye. Written by Kathy Li"
